Our Story
When Salvador & Margarita Avila came to the United States from Guanajuato, Mexico, with their children, they carried the hope of the American dream of starting something special for their families. Over five decades later, their children own and operate Avila’s El Ranchito, one of the most well-known groups of Mexican restaurants in Orange and Los Angeles Counties. Mama Avila brought with her family recipes that focused on freshness and quality. Papa envisioned a family-run restaurant, and the entire Avila family helped at the first El Ranchito in Huntington Park, which opened in 1966. Today the restaurants are still family-owned and operated. Each location is personally managed by a family member, ensuring the warm, personal atmosphere that treats customers “like part of the family.” Long-time employees have been integral to their success, working with the family for decades.
